  1. Include 6 month, 12 month, and pay in advance pricing options for Azure.

I'd like to compare reserved instances to the Azure rough equivalent - 6 month, 12 month, and pay in advance.

    • Import AWS Simply Monthly Calcutalor share link

As a PlanForCloud user, I would like to import a link from the Amazon Web Services Simply Monthly Calculator, to manipulate the additional services, compare against Reserved Instances model and other Cloud vendors.
Using a link like this as an example: http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/calc5.html#key=a-simple-3-tier-web-app

      • Include Rightscale Costs

Why not include your own pricing in this tool? I like Rightscale services, and I'd like to buy them. You have a tool for calculating costs, but don't provide your prices? I get that this is supposed to help anyone, regardless of their interest in Rightscale, but it'd sure be handy for people shopping for your services as well.

          • Additional line items needed

We host websites for other customers and add a % or fixed $ amount to AWS charges. Would like to have a line item for misc or other charges.

We also signup for additional/3rd party services like New Relic, pingdom etc that need to passed on the customer. This line item would be handy in both cases.

            Thanks

              • Add Dynamo DB and other AWS services

I'm looking to use PlanForCloud to do some cost comparisons and it looks like EXACTLY the tool I've been looking for. However...our cloud apps currently use DynamoDB and other aws services (SNS,SQS,Route53). Any plans to incorporate these into the tool?

                • Add support for PaaS providers such as Heroku and Google AppEngine

It would be useful to see these costs in PlanForCloud.

                        • Integrate RightScale current deployments with PlanForCloud to estimate savings

As a PlanForCloud and RightScale user, I would like to create a Deployment in RightScale or use a previously created one, and compare the costs for the same capacity in other Cloud Providers or Region, and savings using Reserved Instances or Spot Instances.

                          • Discussion

I think this service would be more effective if it offered some information from the perspective of someone who isn't a technical expert. A planning tool such as this is likely to be used by someone creating a business plan prior to hiring someone with real expertise. Given that, offering some discussion on what options mean and providing some real-world, common sense perspective on what these choices will support in terms of real world usage (e.g., the number of users per server per minute, or some such), would make this a more valuable planning tool.

All of PlanForCloud's currently supported cloud providers are public. Would you like to see private cloud provider options?

Which private cloud providers would you like to see included?

                              • Report comparisons

I want to be able to see the effects of different elasticity patterns on the reports, so I want to attach patterns to reports and compare their effects.

I also want to be able to compare different cost reports on the same page.

                                • Make servers/storage/databases cloud agnostic and compare cloud providers for me

I thought the tool would be provider agnostic. In the sense that you would model according to your requirements and the tool calculates the cost for the application at different providers. Being able to choose for Memory/HD space and region instead of particular instances would be a start towards this direction.

                                    • have a monthly cost breakdown on the annual report page

Users would be able to view a breakdown of the factors contributing to the total cost of a specified month.

e.g. showing patterns that are active during that month.
or indicating to the user that reserved instances are paid that month.

                                      • Distinguish between servers with persistent storage and ephemeral storage

There are different types of servers in the cloud in terms of storage persistency
                                        (http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/blog/2009/04/07/cloud-servers-and-ec2-why-persistence-matters/).

Do you plan to start distinguishing between these ephemeral and persistent servers when creating a deployment?

                                        • Negotiated prices in PlanForCloud

Do you have negotiated price books from the cloud providers which you would like to use instead of their publicly listed prices?
You are then able to run simulations for different deployment options with your negotiated prices.
